Safety boundaries

Soundproofing can intersect with fire safety, ventilation, moisture, and structural load. Use qualified professionals when risk appears.

Stop and get help if

  • You need to open walls with unknown wiring/plumbing.
  • You are altering fire-rated assemblies.
  • You are sealing a space that needs ventilation (bath, kitchen, gas appliances).
  • You see moisture, mold, or structural movement.

Ventilation rule

Never block required vents. If you add mufflers or baffles, keep airflow and consider pressure drop.
